Botox Treatment

Botox is used in dental settings to relax overactive jaw and facial muscles, often as part of a broader approach to jaw tension, clenching, and related discomfort. At Jeremy Montrose, DMD, this treatment is offered as one option among a range of therapies addressing TMJ and orofacial muscle function.

When Botox May Be Considered

  • Jaw Muscle Tension — Chronic clenching or grinding can lead to tight, overworked jaw muscles.
  • TMJ-Related Discomfort — Botox may be used alongside other TMJ therapies to help ease muscle-driven symptoms.
  • Headache Patterns Linked to Jaw Function — Some headaches are connected to muscle tension in the jaw and face.

Part of a Broader Evaluation

Dr. Jeremy Montrose, D.M.D., has completed Botulinum Toxin Level I training and evaluates each patient's jaw and joint function before recommending any treatment. Because Botox is often considered alongside other findings, a Botox consultation may include a TMJ evaluation or CBCT imaging to better understand the underlying structure of the jaw and joint.

A Coordinated Approach

Botox is not used in isolation. It may be paired with therapeutic injections, an oral orthotic, or other TMJ-focused care depending on what the evaluation reveals. This allows treatment to reflect the specific muscle and joint patterns identified during assessment, rather than addressing symptoms alone.
