CBCT Evaluation

Cone Beam CT (CBCT) imaging is a type of 3D X-ray that captures a detailed view of the jaw, teeth, airway, and joint structures in a single scan. In the office, CBCT evaluation is used by Dr. Jeremy Montrose to support treatment planning for concerns related to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), airway and breathing, and orthodontic development.

What CBCT Imaging Shows

  • Jaw and Joint Structure — a three-dimensional view of the bones and joint space that supports TMJ evaluation and treatment planning.
  • Airway Dimensions — a detailed look at airway space that can inform airway-focused dentistry and sleep-disordered breathing evaluations.
  • Tooth and Bone Position — precise anatomical detail used to guide orthodontic and orthopedic treatment decisions.

When It's Typically Used

CBCT evaluation is often considered when a patient is being assessed for TMJ symptoms, airway or breathing concerns, or when planning for orthodontic and orthopedic growth and remodeling appliances. It provides Dr. Montrose with a clearer picture than standard imaging alone when these structures need closer examination.

How It Fits Into Care

CBCT imaging is one of the on-site diagnostic tools available at Jeremy Montrose, DMD, alongside digital X-rays. Findings from a CBCT scan can be incorporated into broader evaluations, including TMJ, airway, and orthodontic treatment planning, to help Dr. Montrose develop an informed, individualized approach for each patient.
